Yogurt, yoghurt or yoghourt is a dairy product produced by fermentation of milk though bacteria called “yogurt cultures”. That procedure produces lactic acid hence the thick texture and sour taste. It’s an interesting process and here we can do that at home as you can easily buy yogurt kits in the supermarket. The name came from the Turkish word “yogurt” which in turn came from an old verb “yogmak” which means “to be curdled or to thicken”. Though the name is of Turkish origin yogurt itself originated very long time ago by culturing milk which dates back as far as 2000 BC. It was India and Iran who have the first evidence in writing which dates back to 500 BC.
