First birthday cake
It’s been nearly a year since I made Ava Rose Leese’s first birthday cake. Wow, time flies!
I made a rustic wholemeal vanilla bean and strawberry butter cake filled with fresh strawberry buttercream. It was healthy and delicious.

Hello there and happy Tuesday! Well, July isn’t even over yet and I have already noticed back-to-school advertisements! I also have noticed that I can almost feel that mild chill in the air that indicates fall is on the way. Where did the summer go?!?! So as I come to the realization that I can’t fight back-to-school for much longer, I thought I would share this sweet treat with you.
Kristin from Takes the Cake shares this wonderful recipe for carrot and zucchini muffins. She than adds a cream cheese icing making them ‘cupcakes’ and then finishes them with my favorite tiny detail, a tiny Oreo Cheesecake Truffle on the top in the shape of an apple. So in the spirit of celebrating each tiny moment, you might want to celebrate – being as we can’t put it off for much longer – back to school with a festive cupcake.

Victorian Cake
.. how cute this cake..
This cake was for a birthday girl who wanted a cake to capture two things: Victorian style and wedding cake which are things I personally love. Victorian Era reminds me of silhouettes, bows, silk draping and soft colors. The monogram on top captures one of the current wedding cake trends.
